<\/p>\nThe medical adhesives available are a relatively new innovation and an exciting new addition to the various methods currently available for the non-surgical treatment of varicose veins.<\/p>\n
Medical adhesives are medical grade \u2018superglues\u2019 which are used to treat\u00a0varicose veins<\/a>. The treated vein immediately solidifies and produces an inflammatory reaction which destroys the vein wall which is subsequently reabsorbed. Once the diseased vein is treated the circulating blood is rerouted to other normal veins in the leg.<\/p>\n
With VeinOff, medical grade superglue (cyanoacrylate) is introduced into the diseased vein via a special small catheter. This effectively seals the vein shut. The vein and the glue are then reabsorbed by the body over a few months. This all occurs in the background with the patient being unaware of this occurring.<\/p>\n
This treatment is performed under ultrasound guidance and with the use of local anaesthetic.<\/p>\n
Once the diseased vein is treated the circulating blood is rerouted to other normal veins in the leg.<\/p>\n
