  How do I prepare for an Ultrasound?<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Wear clothing that will provide easy access to the area that is being imaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Bring any previous imaging examination films with you, for comparison.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      IMPORTANT:<\/p>\n

      If you have diabetes, or you are on any medications prescribed by your doctor, please contact us to ensure that there are no special requirements prior to your examination.<\/p>\n

      • Abdomen ultrasound:
        \nYou will need to fast (have nothing to eat or drink) for eight hours prior to the examination. This ensures there is no food or fluid covering the area that is to be examined.<\/li>\n
      • Renal (kidney related) ultrasound:
        \nPlease drink 750 \u2013 1000 mL of water, one hour prior to the procedure and do not go to the toilet after drinking the fluid.<\/li>\n
      • Vascular (blood vessel related) ultrasound:\n

        • Renal (kidney) arteries \u2013 Please fast (have nothing to eat or drink) for eight hours prior to the examination.<\/li>\n
        • Aorta or Leg arteries \u2013 Please fast (have nothing to eat or drink) for eight hours prior to the examination to minimise bowel gas that may obscure the large arteries in your lower abdomen, which are examined as part of this test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          No preparation is required for the following ultrasound examinations:<\/p>\n

          • Breast ultrasound<\/li>\n
          • Thyroid ultrasound<\/li>\n
          • Sctrotal ultrasound<\/li>\n
          • Musculoskeletal – muscles, tendons and joints<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
